"Downlaod FTP with Transit" is an Apple Data Detectors action that will allow you to route FTP:// URL's to Transit with little or no effort. Simply highlight an FTP URL in any document (an email, a report, a web page), control-click it, and choose "Download FTP with Transit" to do just that — send Transit packing on its merry way to grab the file.
Installing This Action
Open the "Apple Data Dectors" control panel, choose "Install Action File..." from the "File" menu, then point it at the action in this folder. It'll automatically be added to your available FTP actions and will be accessable the next time you control-click!
About Apple Data Detectors
Designed as an extension of MacOS™ 8's contextual menus, ADD (with "Internet Address Detectors") allows you to select a block of text, scan that block of text for valid Internet addresses, and select from various "actions" to perform on any valid address.
For example, if you had Apple Data Detectors installed and you were to highlight this paragraph of text and control-click on it, you would get a special ADD menu. That's because this paragraph contains a URL. Or, at least, it will: http://www.panic.com/linkpad/ . ADD will automatically recognize a web address and give you a variety of actions (View Web Page in Netscape Navigator™, for example) that can be performed on the URL.
